Techne® 3Prime personal thermal cyclers from Bibby Scientific are self-contained, personal thermal cyclers with numerous applications in molecular biology and diagnostics laboratories. A choice of models is offered with fitted blocks either for 0.2ml or 0.5ml microtubes in strips or plates. A full colour touchscreen provides control and display of programme status, with templates allowing easy programming of even complex procedures. Up to 1000 x 3-segment programmes can be stored with incremental/decremental timing and temperature elements. Programme naming and password protection are also available. A heated lid is provided with temperature adjustment (100 to 115°C) and heat on/off switch. The heated lid for 3PrimeX and 3PrimeG models also adjusts to accommodate a variety of consumables. Additionally, 3PrimeG models are convenient, small-scale, gradient thermocyclers which also hold half a 96-well plate in an 8 column x 6 row configuration. Annealing temperatures can be optimised over a 1 to 14°C gradient between 30°C and 80°C. All 3Prime models include a USB output to transfer programmes and temperature logs between instruments or the user’s computer.
